In the 60s, 70s and 80s it became quite common for popular sitcoms to be transferred to stage for live shows based on them with some or all of the original TV casts, as a way of trying to entice television viewing audiences bath into the declining theatres. For television sitcoms this kicked off with a stage show adapted from popular 50s Granada sitcom The Army Game in Blackpool in 1959 but even before this poplar radio comedy series like Life with the Lyons and Educating Archie were adapted to the stage. This section looks at those stage plays adapted from radio comedy series through my extensive collection of theatre posters, flyers and programmes for them.
